Why is it dark at night?
Fuzz answers for ages 4–9, then goes 1 step deeper each time a child asks why.

Fuzz says
The Earth is round like a giant ball, and it's always turning. When your home faces the sun, it's daytime. As the Earth keeps turning, your home faces away from the sun, and the sky goes dark. That's night! The sun is still shining on the other side of the world, where it's daytime right now.

Why does the sun seem to go down?
In the evening, the sun seems to sink down the sky. Really, the Earth is turning, and it carries you along with it, even though you can't feel it. One whole turn takes 24 hours. So by morning, your home has come all the way round to face the sun again.
